So we had some productive BoFs about adept here at UDS Paris. We chatted a lot with Ellen from openusability about the new interface. There is also a first draft of the release schedule for 2.2 and 2.3 — that being, end of July and end of August, respectively. Which means, edgy would get 2.3 in it. Which would be great. I have no idea about (debian) etch, but that may make it too… Which would be even more great.

The new interface is supposed to address most of the current problems. The other planned things are significant performance improvements (basically done, i will have another profiling session before the release, but i’m fairly happy about speed now). That, and a bunch of robustness improvements. Failures should be predicted and prevented where possible (things like breaking packages shouldn’t let you get past (new) “resolve” step) and handled gracefully with some recovery where applicable.

I’ll write down more later, i have to write down a spec for this before Riddell eats me :)).
