On jobs and assorted headaches and joys
So i was to a third interview today. First one was a Microsoft company, i believe the consultant in the recruitment company that thought it was a good idea was very very mistaken, or just a dork. So i went to the interview, just in case (and to gain some practice), well, it was somewhat silly. We parted, they let me know via the aforementioned recruitment company i don’t go to second round. Hah. Well, i wouldn’t work for them anyway, unless very very very very very desperate. That was not the case. So.
Another try, another winders-based company, Zoner. Their products are pretty okeyish and their team looks good, and i would go work there if i wouldn’t find anything better and they actually hired me. It’d be a C#/.NET/MS SQL job though, so uhm. Well. Good team being probably only reason to go there. And of course salary. They weren’t too happy to hear i want to study besides the job. Oh well. Still hope they choose me for second round of interviewing though. Even if i don’t take the job, it’d be at least a bit flattering =).
And today, today i was at USU Software, a RedHat outsourcing contractor. So i would in effect work for RH. Yeah, yeah. The interview was very nice, prolly more interesting and pleasant than both of the previous. So yeah, the local boss said he’ll recommend me and that he wants me on the team, really. Wh00t. Well, he’s not in position to make the decision though, so. Last word belongs to the RH chief for Europe (and some neighbouring regions and whatsnot, i don’t really recall). The local boss (Mr. Šebesta) told me that he (the RH chief in Stuttgart) will call me in some time. Well, fair enough. Then i asked about when probably and he hesitated for a second and then picked up a phone and called him. Wow. So, negotiated it so i have a phone (mini-)interview tomorrow at 10 am. Coolio. If this guy confirms my application, i will most probably start working for RH on 1st of February. That’d be pretty cool, much better than a Windows-based company, i think. And most of my work goes back to OSS in some way or other, alas. I’m looking forward. Of course, stable income is something i very much need these days.
Yeah, a little sidenote… Mr. Šebesta asked me about hobbies and all and expressed intent to go look up my poetry on the ‘Net so i pointed him at planetkde.org since my blog url is somwhat longish. So Mr. Šebesta, if you are reading this, hello =).
